To make sense of these numbers, we must look closely at the category titles, not so much the individual contaminants. Aquasana does indeed remove contaminants, and lists about 77 of them. However, they fall into only a couple of categories.

It will eliminate petroleum products, pesticides, VOCs, pharmaceuticals, chloramines, trihalomethanes, and others, reducing them to undetectable levels. Consumer-grade products simply don’t have the capacity to purify water to this standard. Aquasana does remove its share of chemicals. However, The Water Machine removes the same chemicals at a higher percentage, and many others as well. Also remember: Aquasana names two species of microbial cyst (Giardia and Cryptosporidium) that it filters out.
